WOMEN HELPING WOMEN

Annual Luncheon

Over 365 Des Moines Pastoral Counseling Center supporters and community leaders gathered on Friday, April 12, for the 15th Annual Women Helping Women luncheon. The event was extremely successful, raising nearly $75,000 to help provide counseling services for underserved and uninsured women and girls.

The 2013 WHW speaker was Judy A. Bradshaw, a 33-year veteran of the Des Moines Police Department and the first female Chief of Police. This year’s event also honored Sally J. Pederson – former two-term Iowa Lieutenant Governor and long-time advocate and leader in helping women, the underserved, and people who don’t always have a voice.

We are deeply grateful to our phenomenal sponsors. Please thank them for their compassion and commitment to the mental health needs in our community.

We are also grateful to the 145 Women Helping Women LEADERS who stepped up to become, through their financial generosity, Women Helping Women Leaders! What a difference they have made!

Since 1999, the Des Moines Pastoral Counseling Center has sponsored an annual luncheon (1) to raise awareness of our work with women struggling with the challenges of life and (2) to generate funds to help subsidize counseling for low- and moderate-income women and girls with limited resources.

You can always help the Center year-round in our work with women and girls by sending in a contribution to the Center directing it to the Women Helping Women Fund at any time.
