Meditation for Beginners

Class Description

If you’re curious about learning how to meditate and begin an on-going, personal meditation practice, come join this experiential educational class. Discover the healing power of mindfulness by learning various meditation and breathing techniques, practicing mindful movement, and self-compassion. Uncover the power of the present moment to respond to life more deliberately and access your own authority and authenticity.  No prior meditation experience necessary and no floor sitting is required. Chairs are provided.  Lead by Allison Peet, a qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR™) instructor and certified therapeutic yoga instructor.
Daily home practice assignments will be offered and encouraged. We will be using a free meditation app called Insight Timer, which will require you to download to your smartphone.  It is strongly encouraged that participants spend anywhere from 5-20 minutes per day practicing formal meditation on the 6 days in between our in-person meetings at The Center.
