If you’re curious about learning how to meditate and begin an on-going, personal meditation practice, come join this experiential educational class. Discover the healing power of mindfulness by learning various meditation and breathing techniques, practicing mindful movement, and self-compassion. Uncover the power of the present moment to respond to life more deliberately and access your own authority and authenticity. No prior meditation experience necessary and no floor sitting is required. Daily home practice assignments will be offered and encouraged. We will be using a free meditation app called Insight Timer, which will require you to download to your smartphone. It is strongly encouraged that participants spend anywhere from 5-20 minutes per day practicing formal meditation on the 6 days in between our in-person meetings at The Center.

Allison will lead an online 30-minute meditation practice on a Zoom web call on Thursdays, 7:00-7:30PM, that will be offered in between each in-person class session. This is to check in and practice together virtually, but separate, from the comfort of your own home.
*(Must have internet connection and your own electronic device for Zoom meetings. Guided recordings will be offered on Insight Timer – a free meditation app. Must have a smart phone to have access to Insight Timer.)

– Cancellations made 7 or more days prior to date of first class: Full fee is transferable for use within 6 months from session start date.
– Cancellations made 24 to 72 hours prior to date of first class: 50% of full fee is transferable for use within 6 months from session start date.
– Less than 24 hours notice prior to date of first class, no shows, and withdrawing mid-class: Full fee is forfeited.
– If you pay via the online credit card system through WePay on Constant Contact and you request a refund, The Center will refund you the total amount less a 5% surcharge fee for credit card processing.

Allison Peet, BA, RYT200 is a qualified MBSR™ (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) Instructor trained at UMass Medical Center for Mindfulness, founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD. She is trained through Mindful Schools and teaches mindfulness to youth, K-12 and is also a therapeutic yoga instructor. She’s completed multiple week-long silent meditation retreats and has a daily practice. Allison has a personal path of living and working with chronic stress and anxiety which is why she started her own business in 2015, From Within Wellness, LLC, to benefit others. She is committed to creating a more mindful community by helping people develop pragmatic life skills in attentional strength, present moment awareness, self-compassion, and stress resiliency.
