An understanding of trauma provides a good foundation for work with any client. Statistics indicate that 30%- 80% of clients seen by psychotherapists have experienced some form of trauma. Christine Dietz, LISW, Ph.D. is a counselor and spiritual director at Des Moines Pastoral Counseling Center and Training Director. She has taught and written about trauma and trauma sensitive practice in graduate and undergraduate social work programs, including helping to build a trauma based curriculum at the University of New England School of Social Work. |
